01 — Prepare your Steam copy

Add skate. to your own Steam account before starting. Download the player ZIP from the project’s Releases page. Have internet access and about 14 GB free for the launcher-managed game copy. ReSkate’s README does not provide a separate CPU/GPU minimum specification; consult EA’s skate. information rather than treating this space estimate as complete hardware requirements.

  • Confirm skate. is available in the Steam account you will use. The ReSkate client requires the Steam edition; the EA App and Epic editions are not the documented setup.
  • Download ReSkate-2.0.7.zip, or a newer release after checking its instructions. Close any running game before replacing launcher/runtime files.
  • Have a compatible controller and consult the current Steam hardware listing. Reserve space for the separate supported-build download as well as your normal Steam installation.
  • Keep ReSkate files, your Steam installation and save-data locations distinct. The path reference below explains each one.

02 — Make a separate folder

Create a new, empty folder such as C:\Games\ReSkate. Extract ReSkateLauncher.exe and ReSkate.dll there. Do not use Steam’s skate. folder: the launcher manages a separate game copy so Steam updates do not replace it.

Independent ReSkate folder (example)
C:\Games\ReSkate\
  ReSkateLauncher.exe
  ReSkate.dll
Skate.exe ← appears after the game download

  logs\ReSkate.log

03 — Let the launcher install the game

Run ReSkateLauncher.exe. It checks for ReSkate updates and downloads the supported build into its folder. Authenticate with the Steam account that owns skate. when prompted by the launcher; the README describes QR sign-in or password plus Steam Guard. Do not enter credentials on this guide site. Later launches check for missing game files.

The launcher’s supported-build download is not the same as updating skate. in Steam. ReSkate checks the game files it uses and retrieves the pinned version when necessary. Authenticate only in the actual launcher flow described upstream. A guide website does not need your Steam password, QR approval or Steam Guard code.

  1. Let the launcher finish its update and game-file checks.
  2. If prompted, use the Steam account with skate. in its library.
  3. Allow the initial supported-build download to complete before starting a session.
  4. On subsequent launches, the documented check downloads missing files rather than demanding a new manual game copy.

04 — Launch and find the controls

When installation completes, press PLAY in the launcher. Insert opens the ReSkate menu; the tilde/grave key opens the console; T opens multiplayer chat. Menu and console bindings can be changed in launcher Settings. These are documented instructions, not a claim that we tested the game.

One supported game build

The checked README pins Steam build 25414733. Use the build installed by the launcher, not a guessed “latest Steam version” or files from an older tutorial. Recheck upstream before updating. ReSkate’s release number and the Steam game build are different version identifiers.

Offline after setup

ReSkate supports playing without EA servers and with Steam closed. The documented --offline (or -offline) launcher flag starts offline play. This does not remove the initial Steam ownership and game-download requirements. Local profiles are stored at %LOCALAPPDATA%\ReSkate\profiles\offline\; game settings and saves are under %LOCALAPPDATA%\ReSkate\Game\.

Offline launch from the ReSkate folder (Windows)
.\ReSkateLauncher.exe --offline

The flag applies to starting the installed game. It does not make the initial game download work without internet, and it does not enable a Steam lobby while Steam is closed. Your offline profile and the normal game’s save-data directory are separate in the documented layout.

Linux / Proton: read the caveat first

The README provides a Steam launch-option command that replaces EA’s launcher with your ReSkateLauncher.exe path. Use the exact upstream command and substitute your folder path. It explicitly says the new separate-folder setup has not been tested on Proton. Its earlier test report covers ReSkate 1.1.3 on CachyOS with Proton Experimental; Steam Deck is untested. Do not interpret that old report as validation of v2.0.7.

Current main-branch Steam launch option — replace /home/you/Games/ReSkate
bash -c 'exec "${@/*EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe//home/you/Games/ReSkate/ReSkateLauncher.exe}"' -- %command%

RESKATE / ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Where should I install ReSkate?

Use a new, empty folder such as C:\Games\ReSkate. Current main requires a separate folder. The v2.0.7 tagged README also supports an empty folder, although it additionally documents the older shared-directory option.

What skate. build does ReSkate support?

The checked README pins Steam build 25414733. This is the game build, not the ReSkate release number. Let the launcher fetch the supported copy and review current instructions when updating.

How much disk space does the ReSkate download need?

The project estimates about 14 GB for its launcher-managed game copy. Allow additional room for mods. The Steam store’s base-game storage requirement is a different reference, not a ReSkate benchmark.

Does ReSkate work on Steam Deck?

Steam Deck is untested in the checked README. Its older Proton test report describes ReSkate 1.1.3 on CachyOS, while the newer independent-folder workflow is explicitly untested.
