Choose a preset for the feel you want

Open the ReSkate menu and Trainer, the new name for SANDBOX. Realistic is an existing preset; 2.1.0 adds Hardcore for players who want less assistance. Selecting a physics preset changes handling. It does not install a custom map, change your character’s abilities or replace the game’s entire control scheme.

What Hardcore changes

The release describes a less forgiving setup: line up close to the rail for grind lock-on, expect grinds and powerslides to reduce speed, and allow more time for slower flips and spins. Bails happen sooner. Judge the result on a familiar line before adding a new map or several unrelated physics changes.

AreaWhat to expect
Grind assistanceLock-on needs a close, aligned approach.
SpeedGrinds and powerslides lose speed.
Trick timingFlips and spins are slower.
BailsThe preset allows less margin before a bail.

Compare changes on one repeatable line

Keep a record of your current settings before experimenting. Try a familiar flat-ground trick and rail approach, then adjust one control at a time. The new menu allows exact numeric input next to sliders, which makes comparisons easier. No single numerical setup has been established here as the best choice for every controller, map and player.

Saved names and multiplayer restrictions

A personal preset with the same name as a built-in preset is renamed with “(yours)” in 2.1.0 so it does not hide the built-in option. Dedicated-server hosts can lock individual players’ physics tuning, boosts and other tools. If a control is unavailable in a session, check host rules before treating it as a broken install.

A community preset for 2.1.2

An October 25 r/ReSkate post shares 2.1.2 realistic settings, comparison clips and a creator-provided preset link. Its author recommends adjusting grind pop-out and gravity to taste. Save your own preset before importing someone else’s, compare the same line and change one setting at a time. Replies about changed flip speed and multiplayer behavior are player observations, not verified compatibility rules. The r/Skate4 cross-post shares the same preset. This site has not imported or tested the file; use it as a community starting point rather than a universal best setup.

RESKATE / ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Does Hardcore give my character new skills?

No. It is a handling and assistance preset in Trainer. Cosmetics, custom controls and character appearance are separate topics.

Is Hardcore the same as installing Session or Skater XL controls?

No. The release describes it as a preset for players used to less assistance in those games. That does not establish an identical control scheme or a dual-stick replacement mod.

Why can I change physics offline but not on a server?

Version 2.1.1 allows server operators to lock physics tuning and other tools for particular players. Check the host’s rules and lock status; local settings do not override the server’s restrictions.
