Player package vs. server package
ReSkateServer-2.0.7.zip is the Windows dedicated server. ReSkateServer-Linux-2.0.7.tar.gz is the Linux server. Neither is the player download. GitHub’s Source code archives are for building the project, not installing the ready-to-run launcher.

You need your own Steam copy of skate. and internet access for the initial supported-build download. The current README calls for about 14 GB of free space for that copy. Allow extra space for mods. This site hosts no installers and never asks for Steam credentials.
| Requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Your own Steam copy of skate. | The launcher fetches the pinned game build through an account that owns the game. skate. is free-to-play; ownership does not mean a paid game purchase. |
| Internet during installation | The game files and ReSkate updates are downloaded during setup. Offline play is a later step. |
| About 14 GB for the launcher-managed game copy | This is the ReSkate README’s estimate. Mods and other local files need additional space. |
| A PC that can run skate. | Use the current publisher hardware requirements as a reference. No separately verified ReSkate benchmark is published here. |
| A controller for skate. gameplay | EA’s PC setup information requires a compatible controller; Insert and the console keys are ReSkate menu controls. |
Your next step
Follow the installation guide to make a separate ReSkate folder, run the launcher and install the supported game build. Do not copy the launcher into Steam’s skate. directory.
